Storytelling Through Art

Including: Clay Sculpture, Drawing and Story Telling

The children will begin this first 3 week session with an introduction to the art of storytelling. The children will then be encouraged to begin work on their own story, with the aim that each child will illustrate a story - whether the story is 10 words or 100 words long - with drawings - using pastels and charcoal and “sculpture” (air dry clay).

The instructions for these mediums will help the children to develop their individual theme and to use their new skills to illustrate and develop that theme. On the final Friday, each child will get to tell his or her story to the children's group - plus any parents who might wish to attend.

The Wonders of Nature

Including: Digital Imaging/Computer awareness, Nature Walk, Collage and Printmaking

At the beginning of this second 3 week session, the children will gather to have a short explanation about local plants, with illustrations, followed by a nature walk in the beautiful environs of the Majestic Ranch. The children will then be encouraged to produce two or three artworks which reflect their new awareness of the living world around them. The children will use items collected on their ramble for collages, and use their printmaking and digital imaging skills to create original pieces.

All of the children's masterpieces will be on show for the summer period in our Gallery - for parents and family members to view.
