Fiber Art: Sixteen Scarves

Instructed by Susie Monday

Program Details

Audience: Beginner to Intermediate

Create 16 different "art cloth" silk scarves using a variety of surface design techniques - paint, batik, shibori, dye, rust, stencil, flour paste resist, gold-leaf application and many more innovative ways to color and pattern fabric.  You will finish just in time for holiday giving (though we suspect some of these will be hard to part with).  Working exclusively with silk scarves will keep the color focused on one fabric and a manageable size, while the colorants will range from natural dyes, Color Hue pigments, silk "paints" and MX Procion reactive dyes.  Perfect for beginners and intermediate fiber artists who want to refresh their skills and learn some new ones, this class will teach techniques that can be translated to other fabrics for quilters and garment makers.
