July 2008 has been a fun month at the Majestic Ranch.
We are gearing up towards the third concert in our concert series, and we have already had two wonderful Sunday nights. Our first concert was with Ken Gaines and Karen Mal
The second concert on Sunday the 13th, was the turn of Chris Pfeiffer and Kit Holmes to 'wow' us.
Next on our concert list are the Mark's Brothers on July 27th, and we know that will be another night of great music, pleasant company, and tasty tacos.
Last Friday, July 11th our first ever children's program began, and the best time was had by all. Our 6 Fridays for Kids program is an entirely new concept, where children get to experience story-telling, clay sculpture, drawing, collage, printmaking - and digital imaging - over six consecutive Fridays. Much fun was had by all, and there are still 5 more Fridays to go!
In our gallery, we have an exhibit showing the work of Herff Kendall. Please stop by the next time you come to class or visit the Ranch and check out this exhibit. As many of you know, Herff is a long time resident at the Ranch, and is often to be seen striding about the environs - landscaping one day, fixing a printer the next, and setting up our new road sign in the space of a weekend! Herff is a graduate of the UTSA art program, and much of his work on display is a product of his time at college. Check out some images here.
We are working on our fall schedule at the moment and expect to have it online by August 1st. We will be offering our usual core courses of oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, digital photography, landscape painting, printmaking and fiber arts, but we will be adding also a ceramics program, a children's fine arts program, and a Saturday Academy schedule that is second to none! Keep watching for more information.
