Additive tools
- charcoal and graphite drawing pencils of medium to soft hardness 4B-8B
- vine /willow (soft) charcoal in different widths from 1/8" thin to 1" thick. (At least 1 extra-large stick)
- compressed charcoal in a box of 10 or 12 sticks
- graphite sticks (LYRA, holder optional)
- conte canyon (white) - 2 sticks
Subtractive tools
- Argum erasers (3)
- Kneaded eraser
- Tuff-Stuff brand detail erasers, with inserts
- Triangular flat disc
Paper
- 18" x 24" Newsprint drawing pad with a sturdy cardboard backing (at least 50 sheets)
Other
- cutting tool (scissors or precision utility knife)
- one straight edge ruler at least 24" in length
- tackle box, tool box or art box for supplies
- large metal bulldog clamps (2-4)
- a handheld pencil sharpener (optional)
- Q-tips, paper stump blenders or cotton swabs
- 1 can of aerosol spray-fixative for charcoal drawings
Intermediate or Additional Supplies
- India ink
- 4 short, wide-rim containers for ink mixing and brush cleaning
- shop rags
- watercolor paper 18"x24" or 22"x30", sketchbook or individual sheets
- assorted watercolor brushes from thin to thick widths
- toned paper (grays, black, cream etc)
- black felt tip markers or ink pens (archival)
- colored pastels and/or various Conte crayons
- painters masking tape for delicate surfaces (low adhesion)
